Sarifa Malaika Sokutu, a super talented hip-hop artist from the Eastern Cape, Bhisho.
She formally started her music career and made her mark in the South African hip-hop industry in 2019 with the release of her debut single titled “Two Eyes” featuring Dean Denarro from Zimbabwe. Affectionately known as SA_Rifa, she is releasing her second single titled “You Know It” soon.

SA_Rifa, lyricist and song writer, initially worked with Andy Beats from Zambia in the production of the song and the song was later reproduced and engineered by S Zimanyi (Shayzar) who is originally from Zimbabwe.

Life is like a roller-coaster ride – that is the essence of You Know It.  It is a song about ups and downs of life but even so, knowing who you are and being assertive should keep you focused. If you have shed a lot of tears and fears growing up; if you know the pain of losing people and friends; if you have experienced life – getting lost in the happenings of life, then You Know It is for you, you will definitely love this song. The song is chilled yet full of vibe. You Know It is a thought-provoking song with unexpected and heartfelt punchlines. No astonishment there, that is SA_Rifa’s song-writing signature.

SA_Rifa, at home grew up with her three siblings and she is the second born of the bunch. She spent her childhood in various towns, viz. Mt Ayliff, King Williams Town, East London, Alexandria and Cathcart. The 19 year-old received a lot of support from local media and enjoyed airplay of her first single on many radio stations nation-wide.

SA_Rifa continues to be a breath of fresh air in the music industry especially in hip hop. Her musical influences include the likes of Rouge, Nadia Nakai, Gigi Lamayne, Nasty C, A Reece; internationally she derives her influence from the likes of Drake, J Cole, Travis Scott, Frank Ocean and Billie Eilish.
